Eco Club

New for the 2026-27 academic year, Eco Club was established to encourage children to become environmental champions and play an active role in helping our school become even greener. Through a range of practical, hands-on activities, pupils learn how small actions can make a positive difference to the world around them.

The club gives children the opportunity to explore sustainability, biodiversity and conservation, both within school and in the wider community. Pupils are encouraged to share ideas, work together to tackle environmental challenges and lead initiatives that promote positive change.

Eco Club also helps children develop valuable life skills, including teamwork, leadership, communication and problem-solving, whilst building new friendships and enjoying time outdoors.

As Eco Club grows, this page will showcase our projects, achievements and the positive impact our children are making on our school environment and wider community.

To help our Eco Club continue to grow, we are always grateful for support from local businesses, community groups and families. Whether it's donating resources, sharing expertise or supporting future projects, every contribution makes a difference. If you would like to support our Eco Club, please contact the school office and we would be delighted to hear from you.

Our Eco Journey

As part of our commitment to environmental education and sustainability, we are working towards two prestigious awards:

Woodland Trust Green Tree Schools Award

This award helps children learn about the importance of trees and woodlands, their role in supporting wildlife, and the benefits they bring to people and communities. Through a range of activities, pupils explore ways to bring nature closer to our school environment.

Eco-Schools Green Flag Award

The Eco-Schools Green Flag Award supports schools in taking meaningful action on environmental issues. Our projects focus on areas such as biodiversity, waste reduction, energy efficiency, water conservation and encouraging environmental responsibility throughout the school community.

What We Have Been Learning

Community Litter Picking

Children have taken part in litter-picking activities around the school grounds, helping to keep our environment clean while learning about the impact litter can have on wildlife and local communities.

.

Rainwater Collection Project

Using recycled plastic bottles, pupils created simple rainwater collectors around our garden area. This project helped children understand rainfall, water conservation and the importance of reusing resources. The collected water also supported local biodiversity by providing a source of water for birds and insects.

Although the original collectors had to be removed during routine grounds maintenance, Eco Club members are already exploring new ways to develop and improve the project.

Outdoor Art Activities

Children have enjoyed creating natural picture frames and artwork using materials found outdoors. These sessions encourage creativity while helping pupils appreciate the beauty and variety of the natural world around them.
