Curriculum Overview
At Church Langton Primary School, we aim to provide a well‑planned, high‑quality curriculum that supports every child to flourish. Our curriculum:
- Creates a stimulating and supportive learning environment where pupils are encouraged to achieve their very best
- Develops pupils’ knowledge, skills, understanding and creativity across all areas of learning
- Allows children time to securely master key skills and concepts before moving on to new learning
- Encourages every child to become an independent, confident and self-motivated learner
- Values each individual within a culture of care, trust, respect and honesty
- Promotes equality of opportunity and reflects the cultural diversity of society, fostering a strong sense of community
- Supports pupils in developing an understanding of, and respect for, the environment and the wider world
- Actively involves parents and the wider community in the life and learning of the school
We deliver a creative, engaging and relevant curriculum that is carefully tailored to the needs of our pupils and prepares them well for the next stage of their education. We believe that everything a child experiences in school is an opportunity for learning.
Formal lesson time totals approximately 23 hours per week. In addition, children benefit from time for registration, collective worship, mid‑morning break and lunch, all of which contribute to their personal development and wellbeing.

Learn Academies Trust
The Learn-AT Curriculum and Pedagogy Group (CPG), comprising senior school leaders and Learn-AT Specialist Leaders in Education, meets regularly to develop guidance for academies about the underpinning principles and rationale, informing both the curriculum and the key pedagogies supported and promoted by the Trust. Supported by Whole Education, CPG worked throughout 2017/18 to develop a shared vision, values and policy. The Learn-AT Curriculum and Pedagogy Framework was launched at the Trust’s annual conference in August 2018.
