Safeguarding
At Church Langton C of E Primary School, safeguarding is our highest priority. We are committed to creating a safe, caring environment where every child can thrive. All staff and volunteers have a responsibility to remain vigilant, identify any concerns about a child's welfare, and report them appropriately in line with our Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy.
We work closely with families and external agencies to ensure children receive the support and protection they need. This includes responding to concerns about abuse, neglect, child exploitation, peer-on-peer abuse, online safety, children missing education, and risks linked to extremism or radicalisation.
Our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is Mr Ross, Headteacher, supported by Mr Will Baylis, Deputy Headteacher as Deputy DSL. If concerns arise, the school may seek advice from or make referrals to Children's Social Care or other safeguarding agencies when necessary to protect a child.
As part of our statutory Prevent Duty, we help pupils develop resilience, critical thinking skills and an understanding of British values through our curriculum, collective worship, RE, SMSC education and online safety learning. This supports children in recognising and challenging extremist views while promoting respect, kindness and tolerance.
If you have any safeguarding concerns or require further information, please contact Mr Ross, Headteacher and Designated Safeguarding Lead.
Further information and advice can be found on the Educate Against Hate website.
Further details relating to Safeguarding can be found within the attachment at the bottom of this page.

Operation Encompass
Operation Encompass is a police and education early information safeguarding partnership enabling schools to offer immediate support to children experiencing domestic abuse.
All our teachers have received additional Operation Encompass training to enhance their ability to effectively support children.
Operation Encompass ensures that there is a simple telephone call or notification to a school’s trained Designated Safeguarding Lead / Officer (known as key Adult) prior to the start of the next school day after an incident of police attending domestic abuse where there are children related to either of the adult parties involved.
Information is shared with a school’s Key Adult (Designated Safeguarding Lead or Officer) prior to the start of the next school day after officers have attended a domestic abuse incident. This sharing of information enables appropriate support to be given, dependent upon the needs and wishes of the child.
Children are negatively impacted by experiencing domestic abuse and, without early intervention and support, this negative impact can last throughout a child’s life. Domestic abuse can impact upon social, psychological, physical, emotional and behavioural outcomes with an often negative impact upon a child’s academic success. Experiencing domestic abuse has been identified as an Adverse Childhood Experience.
Operation Encompass aims, by directly connecting the police and schools, to secure better outcomes for children, to enable schools to better understand the impact living with domestic abuse has upon children, to help schools to better understand a child’s lived experience and to therefore be able to support and nurture each child, making a child’s day better and giving them a better tomorrow.
You can find some really helpful leaflets to support any difficulties experienced within a family.
